Tourism is a highly mediated way of engaging with a somewhere that is not where we’re from. These works look how tourist-based interactions reinforce limited viewpoints of a place’s or a people’s aboutness and how these perspectives are challenged or even subverted. They address tourism-as-service, tourism-as-object, and tourism-as-performance to ask who authors these experiences, and how are they authorized?
